My first medal !

23 10 2012

Long since I wrote a blog post, other than music notes .. I decided to write one yesterday.

Yesterday night , I went to bed early around 10:30pm. For the past few days the climate here in Chennai is very cool (It feels like Coimbatore) and I just wanted to enjoy long hours of sleep. Many thoughts were crossing over my mind as I lay in the bed looking at the ceiling fan. And the very thought of imagining how I will be the writing this post kept me awake for more than an hour. There are times when I could not sleep since I feel very low ,during those times I used to pray and sing (hum along with keyboard or guitar) and there are times when I could not sleep since I feel excited and proud , during those I usually remind myself of my blog’s tagline and again sing. Yesterday was of the type 2,.. Here is what I wanted to write and this is how it started.

2 weeks back on wednesday I guess, I went to meet my friend for juice after office and we spent some time in vettikkadhai. My friend had been preparing for the marathon that sunday conducted by the CTC and when we were about to close the meeting, came the invitation,.

“Nee sunday marathon’ku varrya”

“naan oadiyae romba naalaachu, practis’um panla, vandhu enna panradhu ? ”

“Atleast photo edukkavaathu va. Naan oadra maadhiri oru picture vaenum”

“Again Sunday vaera, naan church’ku poaganumle”

“6’o clock aarambikkum 10km oadurathukku 1 to 1:30 hrs aagum avlo thaan , then you can go”

Had a quick thought and said,

“seri , andha mail anupchudu paakren ”

Then, once I reached home I went through the mail and I was planing “ok it will start by 6:30 and even if it is 2 hours , I will be done by 8:30 and then I can reach church well within time” etc,.. when my eyes fell on this line in the mail ” Those who successfully complete the run (e.g. checked at the U-turn point) will be given a medal ” . Then during I closed the laptop and went to gym and then dinner. This line was still flashing through my mind. 🙂 and when I came back , I started filling up the registration form and there was this column  ‘mention about your fitness’ 😉 , felt very proud when I wrote “Regular gym work-out. I maintain six pack abs”. Then came the reply preparation mail and I informed my friend about my registration.

The night before the run I called another friend of mine over skype and was saying “machi naalaikku naan 10km oada poaren, vaazhkaile modha moraya medal vaanganum nu aasa vandhurukku ” .That sunday I reached the buckingham canal at 6 sharp. They gave me this BIB and all.  This was the first CTC event I was attending. The reception and arrangements and everything was just perfect. Then the announcement about the starting of 10K marathon came. Around 100 people were there for this race and people were stretching etc., before the run . I was wondering, why these people bother so much, only after the run going back home I realized I too should have done the same. First half was really tiring , but once I completed the first five and took a U -turn , I felt energetic and got a hope I would easily make it, set few small targets to move ahead of few persons one by one and not letting them go ahead, and when we neared the last 200m , few of us actually sprinted to finish. It was about 8 long years since I ran and I had not practised running , still I was able to do it. 😉 Once I completed it and was going to get the medal , it was an awesome feel as if I had accomplished something ( very small thing but still 😉 )  , then they took photos of us with medals on the podium and collected it back due to shortage of medals then, this event was a huge hit even bigger than what they expected. Then I left a Thank you message to my friend for my first medal and left for church.

The next week fully was engaged with the feel of seeing the photos taken during the run by various photographers. Then came the mail for collecting the medals. This saturday, I went to Pallavakam to collect the medal from Peter himself in his own house, that too it was continuously drizzling while I drove through the ECR. Finally I received the T-shirt and the silver medal from him, had a tea on the way and came back.

I never in my wildest dreams had  thought I would get a medal for running 😛 . My mom used to tell me I should get Gold medal in college which I know for sure I would not get and did not set my eyes upon it. But mom here I come home with silver medal atleast. BTW , happy holidays everyone . Going home for pooja and Bakrid holidays. 😉

Veena in Vienna keyboard notes !

5 10 2012

Of late, in Satyam theatres I have heard this veena music several times during the interval and started wondering which album it belongs to. Then later came to know it is from the album “Veena in Vienna” by ” Punya Srinvavas”. I wanted to keep the small bit of the tune played during the interval as my ringtone, but was able to get only the full song. Then I decided to play, record and set it as ringtone, So here is the notes for the same.
